WHERE ART MEETS MECHANISM.

WHERE ART MEETS MECHANISM.

In a digital world, REED reminds us that music is a tangible, physical ritual. Hailing from Lithuania, REED has reimagined the turntable not just as a precision instrument, but as a sculptural masterpiece. By blending the warmth of traditional materials like wood and brass with cutting-edge 3D printing technology, REED creates tonearms and turntables that are as visually arresting as they are sonically accurate. It is a celebration of the vinyl ritual, elevating it to an art form.

THE REED PHILOSOPHY:

AN UNUSUAL PATH TO AUDIO. REED'S FOUNDER AND OWNER, VIDMANTAS TRIUKAS, BRINGS A RARE COMBINATION OF ARTISTIC SENSIBILITY AND ENGINEERING RIGOUR TO HIS CRAFT . FROM 1980–1982, TRIUKAS STUDIED ART HISTORY IN RUSSIA BEFORE LEAVING THAT WORLD IN 1985 FOR RADIO ENGINEERING, SPECIALISING IN ACOUSTIC AND ULTRASOUND RESEARCH . HE EARNED THREE PATENTS IN THE FIELD OF ACOUSTIC NOISE TRANSMISSION THROUGH DIFFERENT MATERIALS—KNOWLEDGE THAT WOULD LATER INFORM HIS USE OF WOODS, COMPOSITES, AND OTHER MATERIALS IN REED PRODUCTS.

Early recognition. In 1987, Triukas and several friends built a complete audio system—turntable, speakers, and amplifier—for presentation at the USSR's largest technical achievement trade show in Moscow . Their efforts earned a bronze medal in the audio equipment category for innovations including automatic speed control for turntables and an amplifier with very low linear distortion .

THE BIRTH OF REED.

After a hiatus working in other fields, Triukas realised audio remained his true passion. In 2007, he resolved to create "something amazing" for the market . Following a year of continuous research, prototyping, design, and testing, the first REED tonearm was born . Today, REED remains a small company of just five employees, dedicated to bringing something special to the audiophile community . Triukas continues developing new designs, with a tangential tonearm five years in development recently becoming viable .
